TEGRITY - Download Recording

Tegrity allows instructors to download recorded sessions. This is very useful at the end of the semester, as EdTech is contractually obligated to delete Tegrity recordings to keep our total usage below a certain threshold.

Downloaded recordings are stored by default in a My Tegrity Recordings folder on your local hard drive. If this folder doesn't exist, Tegrity will create one. Use the search tools on your computer to find this folder, as Mac and PC have different basic file folder structures.

Download Recording

  1. Login to Canvas.
  2. Click the Tegrity Classes button in the course menu.
  3. Select one or more checkboxes on the far right side of the screen. NOTE: Recordings do NOT have to be published in order to be downloaded.

  4. Mouse-over the Recording Tasks button at the top of the column on the right.
  5. Select Download from the drop-down menu.

  6. A window will open prompting you to download the Tegrity Recordings Manager Installation. NOTE: You can ignore this if you have already done so.

  7. Eventually, the Tegrity Downloads window will open, showing you the download history of ALL of your previous downloads, if any. It may take a few minutes for the download process to complete, depending on the length of the recording.

Your recording will be stored in the My Tegrity Recordings folder in the Sessions subfolder.

Playback Recording

  1. Navigate to the My Tegrity Recordings folder on your local machine and open the Sessions folder.
  2. Open the folder corresponding to recording you want to view. Session folders tend to have very long names...
  3. Open the Recording subfolder.
  4. Open the Default.htm file in a web browser. You may need to click a link in the web browser to open the recording in a new window or tab.

  5. Your recording should begin playing in a web browser window.

Alternatively, if you just want to review the *.MP4 file, or you need to retrieve that file because you want to alter it as part of a larger video-editing project, then follow the steps below:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 above to get to the Recording subfolder.
  2. Open the Class and then the Projector subfolders.
  3. Open the screen0.mp4 file to view a the recording of the screencaptured desktop (with audio).

NOTE: If the instructor's camera was used to capture the speaker, you can go to the Class > Instructor subfolder to find a similar file that will be just the instructor's webcam video and audio (without the screencaptured desktop).
