IThenticate

The Missouri S&T Educational Technology office is proud to support a new tool on campus called iThenticate. Brought to you by the same company behind Turnitin, iThenticate is a plagiarism prevention tool intended for use by professional academic researchers and publishers. Like Turnitin, iThenticate generates originality reports by comparing submitted work to previously published work. Unlike Turnitin—which is intended for classroom use—iThenticate is intended solely for the world of professional academic publishing. iThenticate is intended to be a formative tool which gives authors and editors the power to eliminate unintended plagiarism and improve citation practices. To that end, iThenticate searches over 100 million scholarly books, articles, and conference proceedings as well as periodicals, encyclopedias, abstracts, and over 50 billion current and archived web pages.

Need An Account?

There are a couple of different ways in which you can request an iThenticate account. It may take up to 48 hours before an account is created—if you submit a request at 10 p.m. on a Friday evening, for instance, it probably won't be created until first thing Monday morning. However, if you submit a request earlier in the day, Monday through Friday, it will most likely be created that same day. Once an account has been created and you've received notification, then you can immediate begin using it!

  • OPTION 1: Complete this FORM to request an iThenticate account. This is generally the best option because the request will be routed to EdTech staff directly, who will process your request.

  • OPTION 2: Submit an online Help Desk ticket or contact the Help Desk at 573-341-HELP. The Help Desk will route your request to EdTech staff, who will then process your request. NOTE: This process can take somewhat longer to complete, so Option 1 is preferred.
