PROJECTOR

All centrally-scheduled classrooms are equipped with a multimedia projector.  These projectors are used in conjunction with an instructor desktop computer to project the computer display onto a screen.  Many instructors, particularly those using clickers in their classes, have PowerPoint presentations accompanying their lectures.  Instructors can also show web sites, DVDs, and other multimedia presentations to their students as part of their course curricula.

Note:  The native resolution for most projectors is 1024 x 768.  When connecting a laptop to the projector, you should change your laptop's display resolution to
1024 x 768 in order to get the best quality projection.

Video projectors are capable of interfacing with a wide variety of devices:  desktop computer, laptop computers, VCR/DVD players, document cameras, and more.  Any classroom that has a video projector will have, at minimum, an instructor desktop station and a laptop video cable (laptops vary in how they switch between display modes--consult your laptop's documentation to see how to send video out through the projector or click here for the laptops that are supported by Information Technology).

There are two different ways of turning the projector on and off depending on what type of device controller has been installed in that room:  AMX panel or EZtrol control panel.

Please DO NOT attempt to recalibrate the projector!  The Educational Technology group has already calibrated the projector for optimum performance in the classroom.

If the projector in the classroom you are teaching in experiences issues, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.  The Educational Technology group monitors all projectors for performance issues.
