CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY

The Educational Technology group has implemented a number of technology-based solutions in classrooms across campus to assist instructors with presenting information to their students.

The primary technology we have implemented includes:

Display Switches:

AMX Panels -- newer model of control panel for switching display feeds (computer, laptop, document camera, etc.)

EZtrol -- older model of control panel for switching display feeds (computer, laptop, document camera, etc.). This model is currently being phased out in favor of the AMX Panel.

Devices:

Computer -- Foundational unit of a technology-enhanced classroom

Document Cameras -- Superior form of overhead projector

Laptop Support -- Technology-enhanced classrooms support a laptop display in addition to the standard desktop system

Projector -- Device used to display the computer monitor(s) and other devices on screen to the class

SMART Technologies -- Interactive display panel that shows computer monitor to the class and allows for interactive annotations. This can take the form of a SMART Board where the projector projects onto this surface instead of a standard screen. Or it can the form of a SMART Podium, where the standard monitor of the computer is replaced by this device.

This section of the Educational Technology web site focuses only on the operation of these devices.  If you would like information on how to effectively use this technology to support instruction, contact the Educational Technology team.

If a device is not operating properly in the classroom, please contact the IT Help Desk (341-HELP) for assistance.  The Help Desk will ensure one of the Classroom Technology Support Analysts resolves the issue.

If you need assistance during class due to equipment malfunction, contact the Help Desk immediately. Be sure to let them know it is an emergency .
